Below is a sample of the kind of information that would be helpful in times of trouble and save you some time and money. Keep this information near the computer-on paper, not in a computer file! Hardware - list type, manufacturer, model, serial number and as much detail as you can about the hardware and other devices connected to your computer. Software - list the software & software versions on your computer and the dates & versions of any upgrades. Messages - list error messages word for word, message number, date and what you were doing at the time of the error. |
